A total of six teenagers were shot overnight in Moreno Valley, and five of them are in critical condition, according to officials.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez confirmed to KTLA that multiple calls regarding shots being fired came out just before 11 p.m. Saturday night in the 12100 block of Orchid Lane.
The area where the shooting was reported is a small residential neighborhood near the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Hemlock Avenue.
Sgt. Brito-Gonzalez stated that, upon deputies’ arrival to the scene, they located five victims with injuries “consistent with gunfire.”
“The victims received medical aid until paramedics arrived and subsequently transported them to a local hospital in critical condition,” Sgt. Brito-Gonzalez said.
A sixth victim self-transported to a local hospital and was determined to be connected to the same incident, Sgt. Brito-Gonzalez elaborated.
A press release issued by RCSO provided further information on the circumstances leading to the shooting, indicating that it occurred at a “social gathering” and that all of the victims were teenage boys between the ages of 14 and 18.
Their injuries were described as “life-threatening” in the press release.
As of early Sunday morning, no arrests had been made in relation to the shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Investigator Saul Fernandez at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700.
