ARLINGTON, Texas (KDAF) — Arlington ISD is home to nearly 54,000 students and more than 8.000 staff members, and Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith joined Jenny Anchondo in studio to share more about the experiences and opportunities that AISD can offer, like career and technical education.
“We have amazing opportunities starting from the youngest age all the way through the graduating class,” Smith said. “We start with STEM-based Pre-K, and then we go through all of these pathways in our school district that are simply phenomenal.”
Programs include fire science, police academy, industrial arts, culinary opportunities, and more. These programs are possible in part by partnerships with real-life counterparts. The school district also works with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce to ensure that their programs are meeting industry standards.
“It gets students ready for real-world experiences,” Smith said.
