ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Residents in the quiet suburb of Hanley Hills are demanding more action after the capture of an alleged bank robber.
Neighbors on Bloom Drive wondered how so many people could live in one home. On Tuesday morning, they awoke to the sounds of an FBI and police raid.
“FBI, DEA, police, everything going through the property next door,” property investor Brad Gulledge said.
Gulledge has complained about that particular home for months.
“People coming and going all hours of the day and all hours of the night,” he said.
“People living in the garage, which is unacceptable,” Hanley Hills Building Commissioner Joel Stovall said. “The number of people staying in there is against the code.”
Police reported their raid resulted in the arrest of three occupants on felony charges. One of those arrested, Matthew Parker, is accused of robbing a PNC Bank branch in Creve Coeur on June 16.
In a criminal complaint filed with the court, a Creve Coeur police officer wrote that Parker, 46, walked out of the bank with $1,500 in cash and allegedly also made threats to kill police and any witnesses.
Building Commissioner Stovall confirmed Parker is not on the home’s occupancy permit as required.
“After this incident, it might be a problem that we can solve,” Stovall said.
That would be welcome news to Gulledge, who took pictures of the backyard before he said a St. Louis County Problem Properties team came and cleared it out.
“It literally was a junk yard,” Gulledge said. “They had to have multiple 40-yard dumpsters to clear the yard out.”
Several people in the home peaked out when our FOX 2 News cameras approached, yelling at us to go away. Defendant Parker remains locked up on $40,000 bond.
