Brush fire spread stopped just before burning structures near border in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A brush fire broke out near structures Monday afternoon close to the U.S-Mexico border and highway 94 in southeastern San Diego County, Cal Fire reported.

Cal Fire and San Diego County Fire firefighters were battling a two-acre brush fire that started around noon Monday near the 26000 block of Campo Road in Potrero.

The Border 10 Fire was burning near structures and deemed an “immediate threat,” according to Cal Fire.

By 1 p.m., Cal Fire reported firefighters were able to stop the forward rate of spread of the brush fire. At 2 p.m. Monday, Cal Fire said the Border 10 Fire was burning at 5 acres and 50% contained.

The fire agency posted the photo below of the small brush fire that firefighters were able to stop the forward spread of just before some nearby structures.
