SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A woman was carjacked at gunpoint early Friday morning in Mission Beach, leading to a police pursuit that ended with the arrest of four suspects in downtown San Diego, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident began around 5:20 a.m. on July 11, when a woman was forced out of her vehicle by four individuals — two men and two women — while driving near Belmont Park, located at 3150 Mission Blvd. The suspects had reportedly met the victim the night before around 11 p.m. and began socializing before the encounter turned dangerous.

While riding in the victim’s car, two of the suspects pulled out what were later identified as “imitation firearms” and ordered the victim out of her vehicle before fleeing the scene in her car, police said.

Law enforcement located the stolen vehicle in downtown San Diego and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit. Officers deployed tire deflation devices to bring the vehicle to a stop. Three of the suspects attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended, police said. The fourth suspect was taken into custody while still inside the vehicle.

One imitation firearm was recovered from the car. No injuries were reported in connection to this incident.

Detectives from the SDPD’s Robbery Division are now leading the investigation. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged contact the SDPD or call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
