Cedar Point’s Siren’s Curse set to break records

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WJW) – Cedar Point gave FOX 8’s Kenny Crumpton a first look at the park’s record-breaking new roller coaster Siren’s Curse on Thursday.

The towering, state-of-the-art thrill ride will become North America’s first tilt coaster when it officially opens on Saturday.

Siren’s Curse suspends riders 160 feet above the midway before tilting them 90 degrees forward and launching them into a series of high-speed, gravity-defying elements.

“When you get up there, your track is going to detach and tilt forward at a 90-degree angle, and you’re going to hang there for a couple seconds. Once all the systems are checked and everything’s good to go, it releases the train, drops you down and then you go into the rest of the cycle,” said Tony Clark, Cedar Point communications director in a previous interview.

The steel coaster reaches a top speed of 58 miles per hour and includes 13 airtime moments, two 360-degree barrel rolls and a triple-down drop element with overbanked turns and twisted track design.

Siren’s Curse opens to all guests on Saturday, June 28.
