Cold Springs Fire near Hermiston prompts Level 3 ‘Go Now’ evacuations

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Cold Springs Fire that sparked in Umatilla County on Wednesday afternoon has prompted Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations.

The Level 3 evacuations are in place from Tabor Rd. at E Walls Rd., as well as everything east to Highway 37 and everything south of Walls Rd. and Tabor Rd. to East Punkin Center Rd. along the railroad tracks in the Hermiston area, according to the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office.

Those from Salmon Point to Hatrock are under Level 2 “Get Set” status, officials said.

Level 1 “Be Ready” areas north of Hartle Rd. from Hwy 37.

A shelter is being set up by the Red Cross at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center in Hermiston.

The fire is estimated to be around 400 acres. One home has been destroyed so far.
