DC officer stabbed during arrest in Northwest, suspect in custody; officials say

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. police officer was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed in the head while making an arrest in Northwest on Tuesday morning.

Details are limited; however, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Florida Avenue.

According to the DC Police Union, the officer was stabbed in the head while trying to arrest a person who was accused of stealing from CVS.

The officer was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

MPD noted a knife was recovered from the scene.

Police said the suspect was apprehended and charged.
