CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Federal and state law enforcement officials held a news conference on Monday morning to announce criminal charges resulting from what they’re calling “a significant healthcare fraud enforcement operation.”
The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of NC, Russ Ferguson, was joined by top officials including Acting FBI Special Agent in Charge James C. Barnacle, Jr., South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson, IRS-Criminal Investigation Acting Special Agent in Charge Richard Gaskins, and Kelly J. Blackmon, Special Agent in Charge from the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
The 11 a.m. news conference at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte detailed criminal charges tied to a multi-agency crackdown on healthcare fraud across the Carolinas.
