Fireworks launched during street takeover on 110 Freeway in Los Angeles

A large group of people engaged in a street takeover on the 110 Freeway, lighting off fireworks and blocking off traffic.

Initial details on the incident are limited, but the California Highway Patrol’s Incident Log indicates that reports of multiple vehicles doing donuts on the freeway came in just after 3 a.m. Saturday.

It was reported that vehicles had all northbound traffic stopped and individuals were setting off fireworks on the northbound span of the 110 just south of 3rd Street in downtown Los Angeles.

Video footage obtained by KTLA appears to confirm those reports; traffic was seen at a standstill behind a line of cars blocking the area off and fireworks were launched into the sky as people stood in the freeway lanes socializing.

It was not immediately clear exactly how many people were involved in the incident or if any arrests were made.
