TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The State of Florida is sending rescue crews to Texas in response to catastrophic flooding that has claimed dozens of lives.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a post on X that he instructed state emergency officials to send three swiftwater rescue teams to the affected area.
“We’re standing by to lend more help as requested,” DeSantis wrote in the post.
More than 80 people across six counties have died since floodwaters swept through the region on Friday, NBC News reports. The Guadalupe River near Kerrville, located west of Austin in hill country, reached 20-26 feet at peak surge.
President Donald Trump signed a major disaster declaration in response to the flooding.
