(FOX40.COM) — A former member of the Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic annoucned his run for California lieutenant governor.
Bassist Tim Myers previously announced in April that he would run for U.S. Congress against Rep. Ken Calvert, who represents the Riverside area in Southern California.
In his announcement, Myers took aim at both the Trump administration and the state’s democratic leadership.
“With Trump’s attacks on California and a political system dominated by career politicians and special interests and rigged against the working class, people are hurting — and it’s time for a change,” Myers said. “I’m not a politician. I’m a dad, a husband, a businessman, an activist — and the son of a pastor who taught me that faith without action is meaningless. I’m running to fix what’s broken, to fight for the California Dream, and to ensure everyone in this state has the opportunity to thrive.”
Myers also touted his business experience as the founder of Palladium Records.
OneRepublic achieved mainstream success in 2007 with their single “Apologize”.
Myers is credited on a number of songs on the band’s debut album, including having songwriting credits for their second single “Stop and Stare”.
Myers left the band in 2007 to pursue his solo career.
