Greenville County deputy fired after domestic dispute arrest

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A deputy with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office was fired after getting arrested in connection to a domestic dispute.

According to officials, deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation and arrested Heidi Blackstock for third degree domestic violence on Monday night.

Greenville County deputies said that Blackstock worked as a deputy with the sheriff’s office. After being made aware of her arrest, the sheriff’s office said they began an internal review and fired Blackstock.

Sheriff Hobart Lewis said deputies are held to the highest level of accountability and professionalism, regardless of if they are on duty or not.

“When those standards are not upheld, we will act swiftly and appropriately. While this incident is both disappointing and unfortunate, it in no way reflects the values or integrity of the men and women who serve our community each day,” the sheriff said. “We will not tolerate conduct that discredits this agency or the badge.”

Court records indicate that Blackstock was released on a $2,500 bond.
