KANSAS CITY, Mo – KCPD is investigating a crash that happened just before 3 a.m. Saturday morning on I-470 near Hillcrest Road.
Early indications show that the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe was in the eastbound lanes of I-470 traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver ran off the road hitting a guardrail. After hitting the guardrail the SUV continued eastbound between the guardrails where it overturned, rolling over the guardrails and the concrete barrier before landing in the westbound lanes of I-470. The driver was the only person in the SUV and was ejected from the vehicle, receiving life-threatening injuries. The driver was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
The victim has not been identified at this time and the investigation into the crash continues.
