KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are investigating a second homicide on the south side of the city after a shooting turned deadly Tuesday morning.
The shooting was reported just after 11:45 a.m. at an apartment on Countryshire Lane near Blue Ridge Boulevard.
Kansas City police dispatch initially said that critical injuries were being reported. A police spokesman later Tuesday afternoon said that KCPD is now investigating the shooting as a homicide.
The police spokesman added that the killing on Countryshire Lane is not believed to be related to another deadly shooting that took place around the same time, about four miles away on Oak Leaf Drive.
Another deadly shooting happened in south Kansas City on Tuesday, also around 11:45 a.m., near Oak Leaf Drive and Crabapple Lane. The Kansas City Police Department confirmed that the shootings are not connected in any way.
