Largo woman watches as neighbor’s home takes flight during tornado

LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — A Largo resident recounted the moment her neighbor’s home nearly flipped with her inside, after a tornado went through their neighborhood.

Martha Hicks, a Ranchero Village resident captured the moment a tornado came through the neighborhood on her Ring camera.

“There was a lady in there, and I guess when the house went up, it stayed up for a second and came back down. The whole house come up and she says she rolled around a few times and had debris on top of her but when the house finally landed she managed to get herself out,” Hicks said.

Video from the Ring camera showed debris flying through the air before the home was lifted onto its side and then came back down to the ground.

On Wednesday night, severe thunderstorms went through Pinellas County, bringing hail, heavy winds, and a tornado.

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado and said someone will be out to survey the damage Thursday.
