TALLMADGE, Ohio (WJW) — Tallmadge police have charged a 43-year-old man with the murder of his 75-year-old father Sunday morning.
Ryan Vietmeir, 43, of Tallmadge, is accused of killing his father, Dennis Vietmeir, 75, also of Tallmadge, on Sunday, July 6, at a home in the 500 block of Cynthia Lane.
A person called 911 at about 11:15 a.m. to say they had shot their father, authorities previously said.
Tallmadge EMS workers attempted life-saving measures on Dennis Vietmeir — who had been shot in the torso — and transported him to an Akron hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers arrested Ryan Vietmeir on Sunday and booked him into the Summit County jail, where he is now awaiting arraignment.
Ryan Vietmeir is due to be arraigned Monday in Stow Municipal Court on charges of murder and domestic violence, according to the release.
The shooting is still being actively investigated.
