(FOX40.COM) — A man was shot multiple times in front of a residence, making this the second homicide in Citrus Heights this year, according to the Citrus Heights Police Department.

According to CHPD, on July 19, officers responded to the 6500 block of Thalia Way for reports of a man being shot multiple times outside of a home. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who was lying on the ground with injuries consistent with the initial report.
CHPD stated that the officer moved the victim away from the residence to start the life-saving procedure. However, regardless of the efforts, the man was pronounced dead by the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire personnel.
Crews from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and the Folsom Police Department responded to the scene to help in a thorough search of the surrounding area to find the suspect, CHPD said.
Police were actively reviewing evidence and conducting interviews with two residents being searched, and investigators collected evidence from the location, officials stated.
Later, CHPD identified the suspect as Victor Bubliyenko, 55, of Citrus Heights, and preliminary information showed that he and the victim knew each other, officials said. At this time, the name of the victim is being withheld and will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin have been notified.
Around 1 p.m., on Sunday, CHPD stated that they found Bubliyenko in the area of San Juan and Sunset Avenue, where he was taken into custody with an incident. Although he is the only suspect in this case, the case remains open and under active investigation.
