KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man was shot and killed outside a Kansas City home late Sunday night, according to police.
The shooting was reported on the city’s East Side just before 10 p.m. on Cypress Avenue near East 33rd Street.
When officers arrived, they were directed to the front of a home, where they found a man who had been shot, according to a news release from Kansas City police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows that the victim was shot after a confrontation involving one or multiple people.
Kansas City police are investigating the death as a homicide. The killing marked the 83rd homicide recorded in the city this year. At this time last year, there were 73 homicides.
