(FOX40.COM) — The Midtown Association plans on installing 16 art pieces and sculptures ahead of the Midtown Second Saturday on August 9, calling it the Urban Dream Art Experience, said officials.
The association said that some of the art pieces will range in size from 6 feet to 20 feet, with some requiring specialized and/or crane-like equipment.

“…[W]e expect that this art experience will be a real tourism draw for the city. Each piece is unique and stunning in its own way. The art ranges in size, scope, subject matter, and artist intent, which makes the initiative so intriguing,” said Emily Baime Michaels, Executive Director of the Midtown Association. “We look forward to uplifting our local arts community thoughtfully and intentionally and highly encourage the community to immerse themselves in exploring every facet of the pieces that are part of the Urban Dreams Art Experience.”

According to the association, the artists will be available for Q&A about their artwork, process and crafts. Select artwork will be accompanied by special programming on each month’s Midtown Second Saturday Art Walk route.
The addition of art pieces was a result of a call for artist submissions in early March of this year. The association said that more than 70 pieces were submitted by 36 artists for review and selection.
“The final artwork selections were based on artistic merit, community engagement, and interactive qualities,” the association said.
