Monroe County man dead after fireworks accident

MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — A Monroe County man is dead after a fireworks-related accident.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:29 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a fireworks-related incident in the 7000 block of West Tabor Hill Road.

Once Monroe County Sheriff’s, fire and medical personnel located the 23-year-old Tyler Pinkley, he had traumatic injuries as a result of the fireworks. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation deemed it to be an accident. Witnesses told the Police that Pinkley was attempting to light off a large mortar while holding it directly above his head.

When they tried to stop him, he reportedly dismissed his friends, claiming he had done it before.
