Police have said nine people were killed in a shooting at Bondi Beach.
One gunman has also been killed and a second is in critical condition.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has described the scenes in Bondi as “shocking and distressing”.
A Hanukkah event was taking part at the beach, but police said it is still unknown if the incident is connected to it.
