NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Thousands of New Yorkers headed to the polls on Tuesday to cast their vote for the city’s next mayor, comptroller, public advocate and more but how soon will we see the results?
There’s no official date for when the New York City Board of Elections is expected to release the final results however, residents will likely see some first-round results shortly after the polls close on Election Day.
The first round of results will include first-choice ranking from early voting, Election Day and any valid mail ballots but will not include affidavit ballots.
One week later, on July 1, an unofficial report will be released that includes mail ballots scanned before Election Day.
Candidates are declared the winner if they receive more than 50% of first-choice votes. The final result in ranked choice elections will not be known until all ballots are counted.
