NYC public advocate: Gonzalo Duran takes Republican nomination

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Politician Gonzalo Duran took the Republican nomination for Public Advocate unopposed in the New York City primary on Tuesday.

The Bronx-born politician served eight years in the United States Marine Corps before leaving and later serving as the vice chairman of the Bronx Conservative Party.

During his campaign, Duran won the endorsement of the Donald J. Trump Kings County Republican Club.

Fellow Republican contestants running in the primary also backed Duran, including mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa and Comptroller candidate Peter Kefalas.

Duran will now go up against the Democratic candidate in the November general election.
