ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis Metropolitan Police officer was injured in a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 70 Wednesday afternoon.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), officers were alerted to the suspect’s vehicle, which happened to be a black Volkswagen Passat, just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the driver was wanted for multiple shooting incidents.
When police tried to pull the suspect over, the vehicle sped off. During the pursuit, SLMPD said the suspect’s car got a flat tire, prompting the man to flee from the vehicle on foot.
The suspect was eventually arrested by police, SLMPD says. Police also recovered and seized a handgun as well.
The officer who was injured did not sustain life-threatening injuries, but they are being evaluated at a hospital, according to SLMPD.
