SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said a teen has died following a shooting in Spartanburg County.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said they were called out to the parking lot of Academy Sports+Outdoors on Peachwood Center Drive late Saturday night. Upon arrival, deputies located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transferred to Spartanburg Regional, where one later died from his injuries.
The victim was identified as 17-year-old Kory Fredericks of Duncan. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The second victim remains in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies believe that, prior to the shooting, there was a large gathering of people in Academy’s parking lot. If anyone has information regarding the incident, deputies ask to call the number (864) 503-4555.
