RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday for three central North Carolina counties.
At 4:39 p.m., forecasters located a line of thunderstorms extending from southwest of Sanford to east of Carthage moving northeast at 20 miles per hour. That prompted NWS Raleigh to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for east central Moore County, southwestern Harnett County and all of Lee County until 5:30 p.m.
The storms are capable of producing 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and penny-sized hail, forecasters said. Impacted locations include Sanford, Broadway, Cameron, Pineview and others.
