ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A St. Louis-area piano teacher has been accused of child sex crimes involving a student and now faces felony charges.
On Tuesday, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged Daniel Yavitz, 38, with three charges of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy (deviate sexual intercourse) involving a person less than 12 years old.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by FOX 2, the University City Police Department was made aware of sex crimes involving one victim between October 1, 2024 and June 20, 2025.
During the investiagtion, police identified Yavitz – the victim’s piano teacher – as a suspect. The probable cause statement cites multiple alleged offenses.
A warrant was issued for Yavitz’s arrest on Tuesday. He was ordered to a bond of $300,000 upon arrest. A preliminary court hearing over his charges is set for Wednesday, per Missouri online court records.
