After a hot, but relatively comfortable Fourth of July in central NC, the weekend is starting with some more beautiful weather.
Highs will top out around 90 this afternoon with more clouds than sun, but clouds will build heading into the evening hours.
Tropical Depression Three is likely to strengthen into Tropical Storm Chantal later today, with gusty winds and scattered showers and storms expected on Sunday across central NC.
The rest of the 10 Day is staying active, with rounds of showers and storms expected most of next week and highs around 90.
FORECAST
SATURDAY will be mostly sunny. The high will be 90. Winds will be east 10 mph.
SATURDAY NIGHT will be cloudy with rain moving into the Sandhills. The low will be 73. Winds will be east 10-15 mph.
SUNDAY will be cloudy with off and on rain and gusty tropical squalls. The high will be 84. Winds will be east 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30-35 mph.
