CHICAGO — The suspect who was arrested for a deadly stabbing at Navy Pier has been released without charges, according to Chicago police.
Around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called toward the east end of the pier at the beer garden. According to authorties, what started as an argument between two men turned deadly after a 64-year-old man pulled out a knife and stabbed a 56-year-old man.
The relationship between the two men is not clear at this time, but WGN News has learned they were reportedly arguing over a woman they were both dating.
The 56-year-old man suffered several stab wounds to his upper body and was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the man has been identifed as John Branscomb.
The 64-year-old man was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. The Sun-Times reports the man “made multiple statements that the victim attacked him and he stopped the attack,” according to a police report.
No further information has been provided at this time.
