THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — An 18-year-old girl died while in police custody Saturday morning, according to the NYPD.
Officers say Emergency Medical Services was called at around 12:40 a.m. because the 18-year-old had a medical issue at the 41st precinct, located at 1035 Longwood Avenue in the Bronx. Multiple officers performed CPR until EMS responded, officials said.
The 18-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased by doctors, police said.
The cause of death is unknown. The NYPD Force Investigation Division is investigating. Other details were not immediately available.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, officials said.
