Ten50 BBQ opens new Park Cities spot for low and slow BBQ

Dallas (KDAF) – A North Texas barbecue favorite is bringing its smoky legacy to a new neighborhood. Ten50 BBQ, known for its traditional “low and slow” technique and “no-shortcuts” approach to smoked meats and scratch-made sides, has opened a second location in the Park Cities at 5519 Lovers Lane.

Founded in 2014 in Richardson, Ten50 BBQ was created by Preston Evans and his late father, John Evans, a well-known Dallas restaurateur and founder of the John T. Evans Company. Their shared passion for quality food and hospitality laid the groundwork for a concept deeply rooted in family tradition.

“My dad and I started developing Ten50 in 2009,” said Preston Evans. “Since opening the original location, the concept has evolved, but its soul remains the same: simple ingredients, high quality meats, and a welcoming space. Our new location is a direct extension of the dream we built together.”

While the restaurant’s signature recipes remain intact, the Lovers Lane location introduces a fresh service model and an updated menu. Guests can now experience hybrid table service, where pitmasters prepare and finish dishes in an open kitchen before plates are delivered directly to the table. The setup puts the artistry of barbecue on full display.

New menu additions include a lineup of composed sandwiches, two fresh salads, and innovative sides like grilled Corn Two Ways and made-to-order Cornbread, a nostalgic nod to a favorite dish Preston grew up enjoying at the former Z’Tejas in Austin.

The new spot also boasts a full bar, offering six local craft beers on tap, wine by the glass or bottle, and a curated cocktail menu. A standout favorite? The Frozen John Daly, a refreshing mix of vodka, lemonade, iced tea, and basil.
