LEHI, Utah (ABC4) — Traffic came to a standstill in Utah County in Lehi on Friday afternoon as a car was engulfed in flames on the shoulder of southbound I-15.
A Utah Department of Transportation traffic camera in the area showed the front of the car in flames with heavy smoke rising into the air. Police blocked the right three lanes of the interstate, but halted traffic across the entire highway. The left two lanes have since been reopened, though some lane restrictions remain.
As of 2:08 p.m., a fire engine has arrived on the scene and is working to extinguish the car.
Details on how the car caught fire are limited, but ABC4 is working to learn more.

Traffic in both directions of I-15 is experiencing heavy delays due to the car fire. The southbound lanes are halted for about a mile away from the incident, while the northbound lanes are backed up about a mile and a half.
The Utah Department of Transportation is advising drivers to expect heavy delays in the area or use an alternate route, such as State Street, if possible.
This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.
