Trump, local leaders speak on US strike on Iranian nuclear sites

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After it was announced that the Department of Defense moved B-2 bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base across the Pacific Ocean for potential strikes against Iran, President Donald Trump says three Iranian nuclear sites have been struck.

We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” said President Trump in a release Saturday.

“All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The three sites that President Trump said were struck on Saturday, June 21, are in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. The strikes were carried out using B-2 bombers, submarines and “bunker-buster” bombs, according to reports.

Isfahan, Iran is one of the reported bombing sites. Fordow and Natanz (unmarked) lie between Isfahan and Tehran.

The strikes are connected to the Kansas City area in a major way, with the B-2 bombers used in the attacks coming from Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri, which is around an hour and a half away from Kansas City, Missouri.

Additionally, local leaders have begun sharing statements on the strikes Saturday evening. Representative Mark Alford wrote the following on X:

“As the Congressman for Whiteman AFB, I’ve been saying for weeks that our airmen in the 509th bomber wing are ready, capable, and lethal. Tonight, they showed the world what they can do to protect American interests and keep our citizens safe. MO-04 strong!”

On the other side of the state line, Kansas Senator Roger Marshall shared a statement on X as well.

“Thank you to our brave American Air Force and their successful mission as no Americans were harmed,” he wrote.

“We stand tall with President Trump who is protecting the world from a nuclear capable Iran.”
