Trump says he ‘wasn’t worried’ during shooting, with suspect due to appear in court | BBC News

US President Donald Trump has said he "wasn’t worried" while he was being evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, after a gunman attempted to storm the ballroom.

"I understand life. We live in a crazy world," Trump said during an interview with CBS News, one day after the shooting at a Washington DC hotel on Saturday night.

Cole Tomas Allen was named as the suspect by US media. The 31-year-old was arrested after police said he opened fire near a security checkpoint during the event and he is due to appear in court on Monday.

Allen, from California, will be formally charged at a hearing in Washington.
