AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — An Uber driver shot multiple times Thursday, July 17, by one of her passengers is now hospitalized, her condition unknown.
Police responded just before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday to the 500 block of Sanford Avenue, according to a Friday news release from Akron police.
The 39-year-old woman picked up two male passengers while driving for Uber, according to the release. One of the suspects drew a gun and shot the woman six times, hitting her in the abdomen and arm.
They then fled the area on foot. They have not been found.
Major Crimes Unit detectives and the Crime Scene Unit are “actively investigating,” reads the release.
