ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – An Upstate woman died Wednesday due to heat exhaustion.
According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the woman was outside in extreme temperatures and died due to hyperthermia. Her death was ruled accidental.
The woman’s name has not been released.
The high temperature in Anderson on Wednesday was 98°, according to the National Weather Service.
Heat index values reached as high as 109° in the afternoon.
The coroner’s office said the death is the first heat-related death in Anderson County in 2025.
