This week, Vitalant Blood Donation desperately needs blood donors, and you can help by taking part in Arizona’s largest blood drive this Sunday. “The reason that we put the blood drive there is because the Independence Day Holiday week, which we are in right now is the lowest week of the summer for blood donations. Arizona patients still require 600 blood donors every single day. We are desperate for sign ups for this blood drive,” said Sue Thew with Vitalant Blood Donation.

“We lose our largest source of blood donors when all the high schools and colleges go on their summer breaks,” said Thew. The need for blood donors is urgent. “Kid’s at the two Valley children’s hospitals require about 1,500 blood transfusions every single month.” Vitalant is Arizona’s largest non-profit community blood provider that fulfills transfusion needs for 100% of the hospitals in Maricopa County and 90% statewide.
