The US has intercepted an Iranian ship entering the Gulf as part of its naval blockade, US President Donald Trump has said.
Iran said it was a violation of the ceasefire and it would retaliate soon for an "act of armed piracy".
Ahead of Wednesday’s ceasefire deadline, the next phase of peace talks is now uncertain.
Meanwhile, a US delegation headed by Vice-President JD Vance will travel to Pakistan "soon", a source told the BBC – but no timings are confirmed.
But Iran says it has "no plans for the next round" of negotiations in Islamabad.
