HEBER CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A badger was rescued by police after becoming trapped in a local skate park this morning.
Armed with a blanket and catch poles, officers from the Heber City Police Department descended into the bowl to remove the animal. A video shared by the department shows how officers captured the badger, accompanied by some creative rock music.
The badger did its best to evade capture by the officers, but the three cornered the animal. They were able to get the catch pole around its neck and covered it with a blanket while assisting officers passed down an animal cage.

Police ushered the badger into the cage while it snapped and tried to pounce. The cage was loaded into the back of a police truck and transported to the wild area of the city. Officers snapped photos and carefully lowered the cage to the ground before letting the badger run off into the tall grass.
According to the Heber City Police Department, neither the badger nor the officers were injured.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources says that badgers are primarily nocturnal, but are sometimes spotted during the daytime. When they’re not traveling at night or falling into the bowl at the local skate park, badgers generally spend their time in underground dens.
