PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The best blues festival west of the Mississippi is just kicking off this Fourth of July.
The events of the Waterfront Blues Festival begin Friday morning at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the first performers are taking the Main Stage at 1 p.m.
This includes blues, funk, psychedelic rock and jazz fusion group, Kota Dosa, who describe themselves as “being at the crossroads of chaos and harmony.”

There will be performances across two stages throughout the day, all culminating in the Fourth of July fireworks show at 10 p.m.
This year, there are also a few rules as far as what you can and can’t bring with you to the venues. Check out the detailed list below:

What to leave at home
- Weapons of any kind
- Animals, except service animals
- Glass of any kind
- Drones
- Fireworks
- Balloons, beachballs, frisbees and other outdoor games
- Professional audio and recording equipment
- Carts or wagons
- Oversized blankets
- Oversized umbrellas
- Oversized bags
- Coolers of any kind
- Cannabis, drugs or any outside alcohol
- Outside food and beverages (however, exemptions will be made for medically necessary items and severe allergies. Email info@waterfrontbluesfest.com for more.)
What you can bring
- Festival tickets
- A valid ID
- Empty reusable water bottles or factory-sealed water bottle
- A bag that doesn’t exceed 18″x6″x12″ (clear bags are encouraged, but not required)
- A low-profile lawn chair for each attendee
- Personal-sized umbrellas
- Good vibes
