Health Secretary Wes Streeting has resigned from Keir Starmer’s government, saying he has "lost confidence" in his leadership.
In a letter to the prime minister, which Streeting published online, he says "where we need vision, we have a vacuum. Where we need direction, we have drift".
Earlier Chancellor Rachel Reeves told BBC Breakfast that a contest would "plunge the country into chaos".
The UK PM is battling to save his job after four ministers quit and dozens of Labour MPs urged him to resign after last week’s heavy election losses.
