Woman charged with fatally stabbing 3-year-old boy outside grocery store to appear in court

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The woman accused of killing a 3-year-old boy in a seemingly random stabbing outside a local grocery store is in court Monday morning for a pretrial conference.

The trial for Bionca Ellis was recently pushed back to Oct. 1 after first being scheduled for July 14.

The delay came as prosecutors and defense attorneys continue to build their cases and share information and evidence.

Ellis is accused of fatally stabbing Julian Wood in the face and the back and also injuring his mother outside a Giant Eagle in North Olmsted on June 3, 2024. Ellis was arrested at the scene with a knife, according to police.

Ellis faces 10 total counts, including charges of aggravated murder, attempted murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence.
