CHICAGO (WGN) — An investigation is underway on Saturday morning after a woman was found fatally shot on the city’s South Side overnight.
Chicago police say officers were first called to the scene in the 5400 block of South Prairie Avenue, in Washington Park, just after 9:30 p.m. following a report of a person shot in the area.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim, a 20-year-old woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to her head.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was later pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities say it is currently unclear what led up to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
