Woman shot in face after possible Upstate road rage shooting: Police

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (WSPA) — One woman is in the hospital after police said she was shot in the face during a possible road rage shooting in Fountain Inn on Monday.

According to the Fountain Inn Police Department, officers found the 18-year-old victim near North Main Street and Village Vista Drive around 9:45 p.m.

Police said they found a suspect car and took two people, identified as Randy Wayne Palazzola and Herman Clayton Burdette Jr., into custody.

Officials said the shooting is believed to have occurred due to road rage between the suspects’ car and the car in which the victim was a passenger.

Burdette Jr. was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, while Palazzola was charged being an accessory in the shooting.

Warrants report that Palazzola told officers that he helped hide the firearm involved in the shooting inside a boat attached to Burdette Jr.’s car.

Both men remain at the Greenville County Detention Center. The victim was taken to the hospital for her injuries, but her condition is unknown at this time.
