DALLAS (KDAF) — For over 23 years, the Zack King Band has been performing their unique brand of Texas rock across the US. Their eclectic, Texan sound has crossed markets and appealed to a wide range of fans.
The three members, Rob Fenton, Kevin Strang, and Zack King, grew up in different parts of the country listening to different types of music, but came together to create a unique sound. King is from south Louisiana, Fenton is from western New York, and Strang is from Philadelphia.
“We’ve been in Texas a long time,” King said. “Texas has been awesome to us. We just kind of hooked up together and took off from there.”
“We grew up with different styles of music,” Fenton added. “Zack grew up in the south with southern rock, blues kind of background. Kevin, from Philly, more of a jazz and funk, R&B background. And then I came from more of a hard rock background.”
“I think it really helps that we’re all kind of in the same place in life,” Strang said. “We’re all kind of the same age, so if someone can’t make a rehearsal, there’s no, like, ‘Where’s your dedication?’ We all know we all got real lives…we’re not going to give you grief about it. It’s life.”
If you’ve been to a Texas Rangers game or a Dallas Stars game, chances are you’ve heard the Zack King Band played over the loudspeaker. And CW33’s own Yolonda Williams even sang with the band back in the day.
