Ukrainian Air Force Strike Destroys Russian Drone Hub in Kursk (Video)

Ukrainian forces have carried out a precise air strike deep inside Russian territory, targeting a building in the village of Glushkovo, Kursk region, believed to be housing Russian drone operators. The strike was executed using a MiG 29 fighter jet armed with a French AASM Hammer precision guided bomb.

The footage, published by the pro Ukrainian military channel Sonosnik, shows the building being hit directly and destroyed. Ukrainian intelligence had identified the site after observing enemy drones launching from the location. A Ukrainian reconnaissance drone guided the strike, ensuring the bomb hit its target with pinpoint accuracy.

The AASM bomb used in the operation was supplied by France and is similar in function to the American JDAM kits. Unlike JDAMs, however, the French system features a rocket booster, enabling strikes from distances of up to 70 kilometres. Two variants of the system are in use: the Hammer 2550 for 227 kilogram bombs and the Hammer 1000 for 98 kilogram bombs. France has provided Ukraine with hundreds of these kits, which were modified to fit both MiG 29 and SU25 aircraft. In 2024 alone, French production exceeded targets by 40 percent, with 830 kits delivered.

The video also reveals Ukrainian MI24 helicopters conducting low altitude air strikes against Russian positions, deploying flares to avoid detection. These helicopters are likely using unguided weapons in daring attacks across contested zones.

In the Donetsk region, Russian forces have been increasingly using motorcycles and quad bikes for high speed assaults. Despite heavy losses, this tactic continues. Ukrainian forces are countering this with drone deployed PFM1 anti personnel mines. These small, high explosive devices have proven effective in damaging motorcycle tyres and neutralising enemy fighters. Ukrainian drone units, including the 12th Azov Brigade, have filmed successful interdictions, forcing Russian soldiers to abandon their vehicles under fire.

Elsewhere, on the Kinburn Spit in southern Ukraine, the elite Ukrainian 8001st Special Marine Detachment destroyed Russia’s newest Black Eye electronic warfare system. The location, a narrow strip at the mouth of the Dnipro River, is a hotspot due to its strategic control over shipping routes and artillery positions. Ukrainian forces continue to engage in amphibious assaults and drone strikes to dislodge Russian troops entrenched there.

A chilling admission from Russian Duma Deputy Alexander Borodai exposed the brutal mindset of the Kremlin. In a recent statement, Borodai openly admitted that the Russian regime slaughters Ukrainians not to fight so called Nazism, but because they have rejected the Kremlin’s vision of a shared future. He stated Russians view Ukrainians as traitors who must be punished for choosing their own path.

Meanwhile, pressure is mounting in Washington. US Senate Majority Leader John Thune has warned that without a serious ceasefire proposal from the Russian dictator, more sanctions will be imposed. Bipartisan support is growing in the US Congress for a bill that would trigger strict tariffs and sanctions if Moscow refuses to negotiate or launches further attacks.

Back in Russia, the Sarmat Centre has begun mass production of anti drone rifles and vehicle mounted jamming systems to counter Ukraine’s increasingly effective drone tactics. Militaries worldwide are now racing to develop countermeasures as drones reshape modern warfare.

Ukrainian artillery crews, specifically those from the 122nd Territorial Defense Brigade, have been equipped with Czech built Dana M2 self propelled howitzers. These modern systems are faster and more accurate, and crews are undergoing training to use them in active combat. The Dana M2 boasts an upgraded fire control system and an automated firing mode. The units were purchased by Ukraine in a 2018 deal with Czech firm Excalibur Army, and their deployment represents a leap in Ukraine’s firepower capabilities.

The White House is reportedly considering a partial redeployment of around 4,500 US troops from South Korea to other locations in the Indo Pacific. This proposal, originally floated during Donald Trump’s presidency, has raised concerns among military leaders. Commanders have warned that a troop drawdown could weaken US response capabilities against threats from North Korea, China or the Russian dictator’s regime. At present, no final decision has been made, pending further developments in Ukraine and Asia.
