Shocking footage shows the moment two masked gunmen stormed a suburban kebab shop in broad daylight and fired a hail of bullets in an attempt to kill a Sydney underworld figure.
Samimjan Azari can be seen ducking from the gunfire inside M Brothers in Auburn on Monday afternoon in what police said was the third assassination attempt on him this year.
In the vision, Mr Azari’s associate can be seen running to the back of the shop as the first gunman rushes in.
Mr Azari, 26, then attempts to cover himself using chairs in the kebab shop as the volley of shots from the two gunmen ring out in front of shocked onlookers in the restaurant.
The gunmen inadvertently struck a 47-year-old woman who was working at the shop.
A 25-year-old man was also shot in the face and is in a serious condition.
Stunned employees can be seen in the footage ducking for cover behind the counter as the would-be assassins fired several shots just after 1pm.
Mr Azari is alleged to be a high-ranking member of the Alameddine crime family and was targeted in February this year and last month in a shooting that saw an associate killed.
The Alameddines are a Western Sydney family police claim runs the city’s drug trade as an organised crime network.
