7th Airborne Forces Corps Creates R&D Center for Technology Development

The 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces is setting up an R&D center to develop military technologies.

Viktor Kordon, head of the corps’ electronic and cyber warfare department, announced this in an interview with Militarnyi at the Defense Tech Valley exhibition.

The corps is creating the center in partnership with a company whose name has not been disclosed.

The R&D center will focus on electronic warfare systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, air defense, and communications.

“We are trying to expand and develop this area. Firstly, we are seeking partners. We are ready to work with every company that is willing to support our Armed Forces,” Kordon shared.

He added that the corps is prepared to provide full feedback to partner companies.

Ukraine’s airborne assault forces have also set up a centralized system to counter Russian drones, which has shown high effectiveness.

The electronic warfare system has its own control points, from which anti-drone systems are activated.

Specialists are developing software to automate control processes and build a coordinated network.

All data on the approach of Russian drones to the defense line is transmitted to the central command point from various intelligence sources.

After that, signal-suppression systems or air defense systems are activated to destroy the target.

Kordon stressed that the system’s organization allows it to neutralize up to 90% of enemy drones.
