Russians launched another massive attack on Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and several other cities, using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones overnight. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that as a result of the enemy attack on the capital’s infrastructure, the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts were left largely without heat. In total, 1,170 high-rise buildings across the city are currently without heat. Utility and energy companies have begun restoration work.
For Russia, exploiting the coldest days of winter to terrorize people is more important than using diplomacy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote this on Telegram, commenting on Russia’s massive air strike last night.
He noted that the elimination of the consequences of the Russian attack on Ukraine continues.
"There was once again a targeted strike against energy facilities: the Russians used a significant number of ballistic missiles in combination with other missiles – more than 70 and 450 attack drones. The strikes targeted the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions, as well as the capital, Dnipro, Odesa, and Vinnytsia regions," the president emphasized.
According to him, it is already known that nine people were injured in the attack, and there was damage to ordinary residential buildings and energy infrastructure. Specifically, Zelenskyy noted, in Kyiv, high-rise buildings caught fire after drone strikes, and a kindergarten was damaged.
The President emphasized that Russia is choosing terror over diplomacy, "and this very clearly demonstrates what is needed from partners and what can help":
"The timely delivery of missiles for air defense systems and the protection of normal life are our priorities. Without pressure on Russia, this war will not end. Moscow is now choosing terror and escalation, and therefore maximum pressure is necessary. Thank you to all our partners who understand this and are helping us."
İt is noted that in Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov in a Telegram report said shelling had continued for more than three hours, with Russian forces targeting energy infrastructure.
He wrote that authorities may be forced to drain coolant from the heating systems of 820 apartment buildings supplied by one of the city’s largest CHP plants to prevent the network from freezing. Russia also launched a massive attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region using drones and missiles. In Dnipro city, a fire broke out, and an infrastructure facility was damaged. Two private homes, a three-story residential building, and a dormitory also sustained damage. In Sumy, Mayor Artem Kobzar said shelling hit apartment buildings in the Zarichny district. Over 50,000 residents in the Odesa region were left without electricity following a massive Russian attack, the OVA reported. Residential buildings, warehouses, administrative facilities and cars were damaged. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that eight regions of Ukraine came under Russian attack.
